ANN ARBOR MICHIGAN WORKING ON MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARY REGULATION

  • The cit council in Ann Arbor, Michigan, unanimously voted to approve the first draft or a new zoning ordinance relating to medical marijuana dispensaries.

Some of the issues it aims to tackle are whether or not the absence of mentioning medical marijuana dispensaries or businesses intends to allow or disallow them in general, whether or not to enforce purity standards, what form of incorporation should the businesses take, whether or not the inventory should be grown locally and by whom.

Other issues concern proper licensing and permits as required by most businesses and how to deal with inspections.  Would those that participate in the program be subject to inspections in their homes?  Would they put on some sort of list that would be available to the federal government?

The issue is controversial for sure.  The planning commission has been the major vehicle for discussing and enacting the zoning ordinances and legislation along with the city council and city attorney.

The ordinance is due for approval on November 4th, the day after my birthday.  November 3rd will be a big day for many other states as well including California, Arizona, Washington and Oregon to name a few.
